Today's Bible reading: Colossians 2
Accepting Christ as Savior is the first step to become a Christian. After receiving Christ, we must remain alive in Christ. Our faith must continue to take root in Christ, and all of our beliefs must also be built on Christ (2: 6-7).Accepting Christ as Savior is something very important. Useless we worship faithfully if we've never made a decision to accept Jesus as our Savior. The Bible teaches that one can not be saved by his piety in following religious demands. In God's eyes, our righteousness is only filthy rags (Isaiah 64: 6). As wonderful as our life, our piety was not possible to meet the demands of God (Romans 3:23). Yet, if we confess our sins and we open ourselves to receive the Lord Jesus as our Savior, we will obtain the forgiveness of our sins and was to become children of God (John 1:12).
Being children of God does not mean that we are free of the problem. Instead, Satan will always seek to damage our faith (1 Peter 5: 8) in various ways, including through suffering and through misleading teachings. The Apostle Paul was aware of it so that he can still rejoice to suffer from serving the church (Colossians 1:24). We will also be able to face the suffering and the sensitivity to recognize the teachings of faith that could mislead us if we continue to grow in the knowledge of who Christ is and what He has done for us. Knowledge of Christ will make us able to distinguish where the teaching of right and wrong doctrine (2: 8-23). [P]
