"You told Israel to sin." (Reading I: 1Ki 21: 17-29)

21:17 After Naboth was killed, the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, saying, 21:18 "Arise, go down to meet Ahab king of Israel in Samaria. He went to the vineyard of Naboth to take it as his heritage. 21:19 Say to him, `Thus saith the Lord: You have killed and robbed! 'Then say to him,' Thus saith the Lord: In the place where dogs licked up Naboth's blood, that's where the dogs will lick up your blood. '" Says 21:20 Ahab said to Elijah, "now you have found me, my enemy!" Elijah replied, "Yes, now I'll get you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the Lord. 21:21 Behold, I will bring disaster upon
you. I will destroy you and cut off every last male belonging to Ahab, whether slave or free, in Israel. 21:22 I will make your family like the family of Jeroboam son of Nebat and Baasha son of Ahijah. Because you have hurt me and made Israel to sin. 21:23 The Lord has said about Jezebel, 'Dogs will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. 21:24 Anyone belonging to Ahab who die in the city will be eaten by dogs, and who die in the field will be eaten by birds in the air '. 21:25 Surely there was never anyone like Ahab, who enslave themselves to doing evil in God's eyes, because he was persuaded by his wife Jezebel. 21:26 He was so wicked. It follows idols, like the Amorites the LORD drove out before the Israelites. 21:27 When Ahab heard these words, he tore his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his body, and fasted. He slept in sackcloth and walked around dejected. 21:28 And the Lord said to Elijah the Tishbite, 21 ", 29" Have you noticed that Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days. It was only in his son's days I will bring evil upon his house. "
Psalm 51: 3-4.5-6a.11.16
Chorus: Have mercy, O Lord, You are the merciful the womb, and Your mercy is infinite.
* Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy mercy, according to the tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
* For I am aware of my transgressions, my sin is always looming in front of me. Against you, you alone are sin.
* Palingkanlah thy face from my sins, and blot out all my fault! Deliver me from bloodshed, O God of my salvation, and my tongue will proclaim your righteousness
Gospel: Matthew 5: 43-48
"Love your enemies."
5:43 In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, "You have heard that it was spoken, 'Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. '5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil, and also for the good. Rain was sent down on the righteous and the unrighteous. 5:46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Even the tax collectors do the same? 5:47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? Are not people who do not know God already done so? 5:48 Therefore you must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
reflection:
"Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his days; then in his son's days I will bring evil upon his house. "(1 Kings 21:29)., Thus saith the Lord came to Elijah. Ahab's experience would be good to contemplation or reflection on all of us, especially those of us who have been hostile, deprive or oppress others in various ways and in various occasions. Let us humble ourselves before God to ask for forgiveness and receive penance or punishment we deserve. Never too late to repent or die or renew ourselves before God called. Liturgically repentance or self-renewal can we do to confess privately to a priest / pastor, are socially or concrete we have to restore what we have taken or take from others. Should be physically impossible to restore what we have taken or stolen, let spiritually we always pray for them that we have offended or hurt. God is merciful and forgiving, then he should not be afraid and do not be shy to ask for forgiveness from God and from others we have offended or hurt. Let us forgive each other and live that love us in spite of the various kinds of harm.
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to thy mercy blot out my transgressions according to your great mercy! Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin! For I acknowledge my transgressions will, I am always conscious of my sin. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight "(Ps 51: 4-6a)
Psalms, True Repentance.
The impact of the destruction of sin is unusual for the life of the universe. Face the wrath of God strikes us in unhappiness, suffering spiritually culminating in eternal death. Meanwhile, the face of God's love actually ensure a peaceful life as foreign, unknown, because our minds are hidden sin. Only with a broken heart, and the remorse of sin, thanks to the opportunity to gain God's forgiveness is open again.
Work of God's Spirit. Who is the man that is incomparable love for and devotion to God? Loyalty and obedience of man has always been overshadowed by the susceptibility to the temptations of sin. However it is not possible peace agreement with the people of God exists at all times. Once again God's love. He gives his holy Spirit (verses 12-13); so that we may have strength, tenacity, perseverance, encouragement and love life to be faithful to God. Sin makes your life full of stress and grief. On the other hand, the determination to repent and openness outstretched hand to welcome the Spirit of God, instill hope and joy of life.
Meditation: Christ suffered destruction on a cross, so that each can ruin our lives healed.
Gospel today, radicality of love
Radicalism of love followers of Jesus would occur when able to love our enemies and pray for them! That's radical love, that love which radically. The word radical comes from the Latin radix meaning root, rooted! Radical love is love that are upon the enemy! Pray for the enemy!
Jesus did not only teach you so radical, but has been appreciating it perfectly when he had to endure suffering, even death on a cross. At that moment, Jesus proved His teaching when He prayed for those who were hostile and crucify him! In fact, Jesus asks for forgiveness from God for their sins!
Presumably, our human tendency is far from complete, prompt, and even the teachings of Jesus' example. We just love the people who disagree, group, and seide with us. It turns out to Jesus, it does not mean anything, before we are able to love and pray for those who are hostile to us. Let's try it, even though it was not easy for us to do. At least, on this day, let us try to do it and taste the fruit in our lives!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, teach me to do your will and to follow your example, that love and pray for those who are hostile and hated myself so that they are always in the love of forgiveness and blessing. For Christ, our Lord and our intermediaries. Amen.
