Deliberate Sin VS Accidental
- Taken from the Devotional Church of Jesus Christ -
Today's Bible reading: Numbers 15
For the Israelites, sin is not only about the acts that may or may not do, but (especially) concerning the intention (intentional or unintentional). The penalty for sin is a deliberate contrast to the penalty for unintentional sin. The penalty for willful sin is death (15: 30-31). The penalty for willful sin was so powerful due to deliberate committing sin implies disparaging or insulting word of the Lord, and thus also an insult to the Lord himself.
In the New Testament, Jesus taught the same thing, namely, that sin is not just about the act, but (and especially) regarding intent (encouragement) of the liver. Therefore, with regard to the murder of anger that pushed the murder, adultery, lust or associated with adulterous thoughts that lead to adultery. For the Lord Jesus, to overcome sin is not just a means to overcome sin that has been done, but also means addressing the intention or the cause of the sinful act.
For believers today, a problem will or impulse a means of evaluation for our lives. For example: While following worship in the church, whether we do it with all your heart? When our body is present in worship, but our hearts and minds were somewhere else, if God is pleased to our worship? If we do good to others, but our motivation is that we are praised and rewarded others, whether God is pleased to good deeds we do? [P]
"But the person who acts deliberately, whether native, kind stranger, that person becomes insults the Lord, he shall be cut off from among his people, because he has despised the word of the Lord and broken his commandment" Numbers 15: 30-31a
